Where has the time gone?

I know a lot of people who feel like I do, that time just gets away in a blink of an eye. That we are forever busy, but can’t always remember what we have done. That a week can easily go by and we haven’t had any fun or played a game with our kids or kicked a ball.

I think Winter and Autumn has a lot to do with the lack of outdoor activity, despite beautiful clear days that are perfect for outdoor activities and playing games with the kids. But we are now on the countdown of saying Goodbye to Autumn, Hello Spring – YIPPPEEEEE.  4 days until September – 4 days until Spring!!

So what are we doing about it? We are gearing up to offer more exciting outdoor fun with more exciting outdoor activities. It’s all about Sharing the FUN.

Lawn Croquet anyone?

Old fashioned? Maybe….so for a history lesson….Croquet originated in Ireland and gained popularity in England as a pastime of the aristocracy around the mid-19th century. It made its way to the United States and was often played as a less serious version of the English game. Now Lawn Croquet or backyard croquet has made it’s way to Australia and has become a source of wholesome family recreation.

Croquet is a great way to encourage hand / eye coordination, a little patience and team play – or you can play it one on one. You can play competitively or socially – either way, you and / or the children are outdoors playing rather than inside ‘being entertained’. It would also be a good party game for a small group.

Soccer is everywhere

We are well and truly into the soccer season. It is a magnificent outdoor game to play. I played the last 2 years but could not this year and I miss it so much. It is such a great sport for cardio fitness, weight control, muscle fitness, co-ordination, learning to work in a team and learning to encourage team members. If you have never tried it, no matter what your age, give it a go. Join your local team, train during the week and play on the weekend. It makes you accountable to get and stay fit because there are others who are relying on you. Whether you are 4 or 64 – (and that is a pretty big age band) it is great exercise and an opportunity to play a team sport. The oldest person I played against last year was 63!

There is now a new product on LaughAndPlayOutdoors that will provide family fun from the toddlers to adults. It is the Inflatable Soccer Net + 2 Soccer Balls. Try and test your foot skills, practice in the back yard or at the park shooting goals, defending the goal, doing throw-ins – it’s a great way to exercise and a load of fun. Your kids will enjoy it and they will expel some energy have a good appetite and sleep well.
This would also make a great children’s party game either with teams or all goal shooting for prizes. Create your own ‘exercise party’ at a fraction of the cost.
